6. Evaluate Program

Evaluate implementation and outcomes to improve program quality.

School districts, expanded learning time schools, and out-of-school program providers can assess the impact of the added learning time through various evaluation approaches. It is important for program providers to have internal mechanisms to monitor staff performance and collect implementation data. Independent evaluations of programs' implementation and impact on students can also facilitate appraisal of the effectiveness of the increased learning time. The evaluation plan should be developed with input from stakeholders (e.g., teachers, parents, coordinators). Using multiple sources for data collection, baseline information, and multiple assessment points in time can help identify academic progress of students.
